Royal Ivory specializes in skin, body and bath products featuring Raw, Unrefined Ivory Shea butter imported from Ghana along with organic and responsibly sourced carrier and essential oils.

I interviewed Arielle and asked her a few questions

What inspired you to start this business?

A host of reasons are behind my decision to venture out and start a business. I moved to the US to pursue and continue my college/culinary career. After much soul searching, I decided to major in Business Management and Marketing in college, this was my fall back plan per say. My first reason for creating Royal Ivory was: I felt the need to utilize my business degree and explore entrepreneurship. Secondly, as fulfilling as my current career is, being a Chef at one of the busiest restaurants in Manhattan creates it’s on caliber of stress. I simply needed an outlet from this and Royal Ivory provides that. It was also a much needed source of income given the student loans acquired by the degree I wasn’t utilizing to its fullest potential. I also loved the idea of owning a business, just having something that’s was mine was fulfilling within itself.

What do you think makes your business unique?

Royal Ivory is special because I believe in providing quality and quantity. There’s no need to fall short in either respect. Quality is achieved by sourcing authentic raw materials in their purest and most unrefined form. Quantity isn’t cheated because responsibly sourced ingredients produce superior products created to supersede similar diluted products.

To what do you attribute your success?

My determination which stems from my appreciation of the labor invested in my future by all the Maternal figures in my life.

Any advice to new or potential entrepreneurs?

  1. Set goals and smash them!
  2. Work and life balance is necessary. Take care of yourself, it’s the only way you can take advantage of your fullest potential and your business will flourish as a result.
  3. Do research and find your target market P.s this does not equate to family and friends, they will come around once business picks up
  4. Charge what your worth for your products or services. Set prices and stick to them.
  5. Take a minute to breathe if needed but never give up.
